Tomorrows Class

We have a full class tomorrow to paint Tropical Evening.

This is a tranquil scene and it will be interesting to see just how different they all turn out.

We have a special student tomorrow--my daughter Becki is joining in after a bit of persuasion.

She is kindly paying for a 12 year daughter of a friend of hers to come and as she was going to wait anyway for her, said she may as well join in!

To say she is nervous is an understatement!

Well Id better go and get the box done for tomorrow-got brushes to put in the individual boxes that each student has to keep everything together.

Also I have to make up some more of the undercoat that we use on the canvas.

Its lucky the room we use is just a few hundred yards away from home-Bill usually ends up coming home to pick up one or two things that have been requested by students and Ive forgotten to pack!!!

Tranquility In Green

Here is my latest painting "Tranquility In Green" painted in oil onto a large box canvas 100cm x80cm.

You can see the different stages that the painting went through as it evolved.

Very muted shades of sap green, black and white make this a very calm painting.

Class for Saturday July 5th "Forest Pool"

This is a new class subject "Forest Pool" is painted onto a black canvas which makes it less nerve racking for total beginners !!
Its a lovely atmospheric picture.
I have been working on some new subjects for some time, the photograph of this one is not brilliant as the painting is still wet.I will take another one later when its dry.

Todays Class

Today Dorothy and Norlene returned to paint this seascape.Its been quite a while since I have seen them. Norlene had a gift voucher to use that her daughter had bought her.
They decided to paint a different coloured vesion of Summer Day as that would fit in with their decor at home better than the usual!
It proved to be a good choice.The red's and orange's were quite subtle after it was blended onto the white undercoat.
They really enjoyed bashing the paint onto the canvas and tickling it afterwards to get the brush marks out!!
The paintings developed quite quickly, and the finishing touches of the marigolds and grasses in the forground really set off the paintings a treat!

February 16th Class

"Oriental Dawn" is the subject for Saturday 16th February.

It is painted in oil paint and is suitable for all ages and abilities including 1st timers and children.

Beautiful colours and a tranquil scene.

March 1st Class

" Snowy Reflections"

This painting is the subject for Saturday March 1st.

It is painted in acrylic paint instead of the usual oil .We use a special shimmering paint on the water that gives it a really frosty cold look.

Its suitable for all ages and abilities even children and first timers.

Modern and contemporary in style , a lovely painting for todays modern home.

new pics for jan!!!!!!

Here are two of my most recent pics of the sky/sunsets/sunrises.I am very pleased with the results-the first was taken on the way to leominster and the second taken earlier that day out of the bedroom window.

I have loads more to put on my blog, the time has just flown, been doing a bit more to the commission, and getting on with putting the christmas tree up etc.

Will get back to norml posting tomorrow with luck!!!!!

My Version !

Here is my version of Oriental Dawn painted yesterday in the one to one class.

Its amazing what can be done with just a few colours of paint.

We used just black, yellow and white with the tiniest amount of orange in the sky.

We painted on a large 80cm x60 cm canvas,something the student had not tryed before, she is used to the normal 40cm x50 cm.

It is suprising how different it is to paint large.

We thougherly enjoyed the day, it went really quickly, we had a nice lesurley lunch break with some ham salad rolls that Bill fetched from the local sandwich shop "Crumbs".

All in all a good day-we put the world to rights and had a laugh and a giggle-she is always good fun in the classes.

Oriental Dawn

I had a lovely day yesterday with one of my students. She wanted to paint a large painting for her partner for Christmas.

We had lots of fun producing Oriental Dawn for him.

We used the new wipe out tool quite a lot in this picture, its very useful for putting small branches and grasses, its got a silicon rubber tip and it takes the paint off the canvas, you see in the close up how effective it is to do distant birches.

Its been put up safely for her to pick up later this month--Im sure he will be delighted with it.

Latest Work

Here are 2 of my latest works. The black and white monochrome one attracted a lot of interest over the weekend as I was painting it.

Lots of people came back again and again to see how it progressed-some of them over the 2 days!

It is painted in acrylic paint on 2 deep edge staple free box canvas, each measuring 30cm x 70cm so quite a big piece of art.

I can add some colour to it as I have on my other paintings in the series, using melted wax to add some bluebells or foxgloves if required. The price including P+P in UK is £200 if you are outside the Uk please get in touch.I use special delivery for my UK delivery-it is trackable, insured and next day delivery.

The other painting is more' girlie'.

Again painted in acrylic on a deep edge box canvas measuring 70 cm x 30cm.

Winter Reflections is painted in shades of lilac and purples with some shimmers of silver to add lots of lovely detail.

The beautiful shades of purples that light up the sky are reflected in the cold water. I have used a special shimmering pain to add the water, and it looks very realistic.Then to make the trees sparkle, a holographic paint is used over the top.It twinkles slightly in the light.

The sister painting to this has been sold.

I took them all with the digital camera on the way home last night-they are all from car head lights and the snow!!

Its given me some ideas for some future paintings!

The snow was coming down so heavy at one time you couldnt see more than a few yards, we had to make a de-tour because of a fatal accident on our usual route.

we were glad to get home I can tell you!

Tomorrows Class

All of tomorrows students have been to me before, so have some knowledge of the techniques used to create this painting.

I'm looking forward to the class-waterfall paintings always turn out fantastically different from one another in class,as each student shapes his or her waterfall different from the next person!

Wellesbourne , Stratford Upon Avon

We are off to Wellesbourne,Stratford Upon Avon, later today( cant belive the time) to do demonstration for art society.
We are booked into a B+B because of the distance we need to travel, my daughter is staying here to pet sit, so Sparky and Paddy will be spoilt rotten!!

Todays Class

Today we had Jan who was with me for the 5th

time and a first timer Samantha who had traveled from Albrighton, near Cosford.They both did a beautiful version of Snowy Day.

We didnt start painting til nearly an hour later than planed--I had a few things to show them on the computer that another of my students-Sharleen. had been sending me during the week!

One of the things gave us some ideas for a future painting class--if we can get a volunteer to model it!!!!!!!!!!

The whole day was a great laugh, as usual--it never fails to amuse me the conversations we have while painting tranquil scenes!

Its amazing how different the paintings turn out when doing a class, Sam's was a lot more 'hilly' than Jans with steeper sides down to the pond.Sam also turned out to be a natural at trees, and with the big tree up the top of the fields behind us as an example, she turned out the most beautiful tree!

Jan has got more confidence each time she comes to me and tackled her tree with far less nerves than normal.

Sam is coming back with some of her family to paint the birch tree painting early in the new year, I have set the date for 9th Feb for that one, I have some people waiting for me to set dates for the new year so will sit down and sort that out when I get a minute.

Todays Class

Here are todays students Jack and Sharleen.

We have had such a laugh today, in between the serious painting.

We tryed out some new tools today--Lydl the German supermarket have had art materials on offer all week, and I picked up this pack of 5 rubber tipped painting tools, designed to remover the paint from the canvas---they worked a treat and at only £1;99 for 5 a real bargain. Sharleen is off to buy up all their stock tomorrow for me, I had the last pack from the Stourport branch, the sets of fan brushes were good too-and again just £1;99 for 5

Chip came along and really behaved himself-Paddy didn't think much of having a poodle in the house and scared him out of the living room-even though he was in his cage!
There were plenty of bikkies on offer for him (and us )

Half way through the session I bought out the singing hamster toys that had us all cracked up, then out came the shelbies and furbies!! We were like a load of kids, laughing and giggling!

Sharleen has gone home with 2 new 'pets' a baby ferbie and an adult one-I know they will have an excellent home and they will probley enjoy a trip to the office on monday!

Oh and Jack the bottle of wine went down a treat thanks!!!!
