Mellow Moods -May 25th

First of all apologies for being so late putting the photos on the blog...a combination of several things--I have not been well--the polymyalgia had a bit of a flare up and then I had problems with the computer and Internet connections....all sorted now thank goodness!

Cathy had the longest journey--travelling up from London at 6am ...she has worked with watercolour before and attended other workshops...but when her hubby saw her finished painting he was really stunned at what she had achieved in her workshop in the time! It was lovely to see them both again the following day when we were on the market-and it will be lovely to meet with them again in the future as both Cathy and her hubby want to return!

It was Annette's first time with me too...she loved working with the acrylic and oils..

Another first timer--Terry--came along with Rob...she showed me some of her  work she has done previously....beautiful abstracts....I have recommended she gets her own website via www.affordablebritishart.co.uk   I sell regularly from there.. today's subject was something completely new for her..

Rob has a good eye for what will work...

Katherine had booked 2 previous workshops but both were cancelled due to the snow...so it was 3rd time lucky for her....

Lesley received her artist brooch for attending her 6th workshop...she really enjoyed the challenge of this one-and said it was her favourite one so far....

lovely results--well done everyone!

Reeds In The Breeze Workshop April 20th

We had 9 first time students on Saturday..and 6 who have been before--some of them only once before...Teresa and her daughters all seemed to find it quite easy--in fact-everyone of the 15 students managed to use the knife as if they had created waves every day with it! I was very impressed with them all!

We had a wonderful range of paintings -from really quiet and tranquil to more bold ones...all very beautiful!

Emily opted for some purple poppies instead of the usual red ones--and it gave a really different feel to the picture...

Jaine's painting developed quickly,
I think everyone was quite surprised at how easy each stage was...
looking good....

Donna's painting is coming along nicely here..

Jac wanted to use a redder brown as she was painting a picture for her mum who has Alzheimers bkess her---and she painted a place in Cornwall that has red /brown rocks there...its for her birthday so I'm sure she will love it!

Sue added some rocks to her picture..and decided it looked like Nessie...and the more she tried to correct it the more like Nessie it became...so we left it at that!
Josie saw me doing my demo at the British Legion club the other week-and booked up there and then,,,

Roger had met me on the market at Christmas and came from Banbury to paint--he made a weekend of it and stayed Friday and Saturday night ...he said it was a challenge for him as he had never painted before--well he made a great job of it!

Pat and daughter Rachael were enjoying their  Christmas pressies from Rachael's daughter!
Rachael  and mum Pat said they will be back!
Cheryl must be due her artist brooch now...

Bev getting down to it...I will be putting the photos on facebook in a minute., if you want to make friends with on there its easier to find me by my email address.. dianetheartist@hotmail.co.uk  or look up painting my way on there..

Stormy Poppies Workshop Jan 30th

After having to chop and change the workshops of late because of the weather, Gloria and Margaret were happy to come to the house to paint their chosen subject... here you can see Margaret adding depth to her stormy sky.

Gloria also found it easy to add loads of depth using just black and white oils..

The painting comes together really quickly.. both ladies got the hang of the knife very quickly, and the waves were done in just a few minutes..

Just about to start the poppies...

the grasses are going in--

Lovely results ladies!

Congratulations!

A huge big CONGRATULATIONS to my lovely daughter Becki and Wayne her fiance.....they got engaged in Cuba last week while having the holiday of a lifetime!   Wayne did it properly down on one knee on a moonlit beach---very romantic!   I can honestly say I couldn't have picked a more lovely husband for my Becki if  I had tryed..he is a real darling--- and we love him to bits!    Everyone is soooo happy for them...So we are looking forward to a new baby in May  next year followed by a wedding the following year---unless those 6 numbers come up first of course!

Bishops Castle Michaelmas Fair

We are really looking forward to this weekends show at Bishops Castle--The Michaelmas fair is always a busy show--there is loads to see and do for all the family. Check out the link below! We will be in the craft marquee as usual.I will have a large display of paintings for sale and I will be demonstrating in oils, acrylics and encaustic wax. Members of the public will be able to have a go at the encaustic wax as well...and councillor Bavastock has promised to come along and demonstrate how to do it as well!  Karen got well and truely hooked on it when we met up at Onslow Steam rally last month.  Karen is looking forward to having her own kit of encaustic iron etc in return for a donation for another fellow student Doreens local charity!  Doreen had seen on Facebook some of the people enjoying having a go (including karen) and offered a complete kit as she no longer uses it.....very kind of her--and Karen cant wait for it!  We are meeting a train in Ludlow station to collect the kit off Doreen as she is en-route on her holiday! www.michaelmasfair.org.uk

Compliment!

We are on the market again today--and also have some paintings in the Ludlow Art Society exhibition a few hundred yards away as well.Ive just had a very nice gentleman come over talking to me ...he asked if I had painted the ones in the exhibition---and that he had voted for the one shown as best in the show! He bought the greetings card of the painting from me..its really made my day to have some feedback like that!

Poppy Fields Bewdley

We had a drive over to Bewdley to see the poppy field---it was ploughed after flowering last year and its even better this year..absolutely stunning....all of the photos here are copyrighted and cant be copied without my permission.....
doesn't look real does it? A sea of red!
Bill admiring the beautiful view..
we had a walk up the lane by the field and got some more shots of the field..
I love cow parsley--must get some painted  in some of my paintings..
Just by the field live Joan and Rob in the old Toll House-they have the most beautiful garden and studio where they have their paintings and wood turning on display. Joan gave me permission to take some photos of some of the poppies...its well worth a visit--we were very impressed with some of the beautiful pieces of wooden pieces there.
how beautiful is this?
