Poppy Workshop Dec 15th

The last workshop of 2012 was fantastic-- we had 11 in to paint the Big Poppy...using acrylic and melted wax plus some texturising mediums. Its a big canvas measuring 24in x 24in -above you can see everyone making a start ..
Karen and 2 others decided to use yellows and oranges instead of reds--and it worked lovely- very vibrant!
some found it easier to lay the painting flat and others used an easel..
Lesley adding the finishing touches to her beautiful painting..
David was painting for the first time...and what a brilliant job he made of his picture...

Dawn came down from the Wirrel again--but stopped in a local hotel that had a Groupon deal....so had time to relax and enjoy Ludlow as well!

It was lovely to see Carol again--she bought us a beautiful table centrepiece she had made --bless her.. She chose blue with a touch of purple for her poppy--love the combination of colours!
This will look beautiful on the big day on our dining table!

Emma's first time, she had quite a drive from Welshpool but really enjoyed herself! She was amazed at her results in such a short time!

Bev has been loads of times--and loved this subject as it is sooooo different to any of the other paintings I do..

Karen adding the melted wax detail..

Brenda getting handy with the iron!

Brenda bought along her daughter Caroline for the first time---she made a great job..surprised herself with the results!

Don't they look fantastic? Well done everyone!

the photos don't do the paintings justice..

all so different!

Progress.....

Well I lost another 2 1/2lb last week at Slimming World..making 9 1/2lb off in just 3 weeks...I was also Slimmer Of The Week again and came away with another big bag of fruit for that! I'm finding it very easy at the moment--I'm still having a glass of wine or 2 in the evening and eating huge meals 3 times a day!
We were on the market yesterday and one of my favourite meals we have when down there is a lovely jumbo prawn cocktail...I make it up fresh before we set off in the morning.
We followed it up with a huge bowl of this lifesaver---no sugar jelly mixed with low fat yogurt-and poured over fresh strawberries and grapes and allowed to set in the fridge..Its to die for..feels really naughty when you eat it,,,,top it with some fat free Total which is just like double/clotted cream and its even better!

Today Ive made some quiches--a corned beef one and a bacon one....couldnt wait for it to cool down,,,and it tatses lovely...will be having some more for dinner with salad and jacket spud!

Birch Tree Workshop Mon 25th June

We had a workshop yesterday Mon June 25th especially for a group from  the Birmingham New Testament Church of God..as they were coming in a minibus we had decided that an oil painting would be out of the question as they wouldn't get them home without getting paint everywhere! So they had a vote on which painting to do when they arrived at our venue!    Mavis --above soon got in the swing of things..
Stevon organised the trip over to paint with me after we met last year on Ludlow  market...none of the 12 had ever painted before and had no real idea of what they would be doing..one or two thought they would have a still life bowl of fruit to paint from what they said!
Rev Rhonda making a start on her small background trees...everyone was surprised at how different the paintings turned out right from the start....
Dulcia was quite a dab hand at doing the small trees..
Richard proved to be quite a natural..
having great fun here...
l
everyone watching carefully at what to do next...
careful not to get freckles Stevon!!!!
the ladies soon got the hang of it...
Maureens painting turned out quite subtle...
Francella was very brave and ended up putting quite a big tree in her foreground...she made a lovely job..
Lorretta seemed to find the painting quite easy...
Rossetta , lovely trees..
Russell was quite bold with her paint...
Bernice whispered to me that she was 83 years old bless her--what a good sport she was--mind you they all were!
May did very well....she thickened up her dark tree after and it had real character!
the ladies -hard at work--completely engrossed in what they were doing!
Brilliant results--you wouldn't think they were all first timers!
Fantastic results...
Didn't they do well? Well done everyone--we will look forward to seeing you all again!

Serenity Workshop June 9th

Only 4 in for the Serenity workshop--had to move it to yesterday after having to cancel the last one because of baby Tommy arriving! So it wasn't worth hiring the room at St Peters...the others that were due in the original workshop are coming in Sept.. Maureen is one of my regular students,
Tony has been to quite a few workshops,  he had a break of a year and is now back and and ready to learn more!
Tracey came along with her Mum-also Maureen--both first timers--
Maureen -she followed my instructions easily and her painting soon developed ..
Everyone is always amazed at how different every ones painting turns out-right from the start,,they are individual as the people painting them..
Tracey's trees coming on lovely here..
Looking good Maureen..
Nearly finished Tony!
all hard at it!
Lovely results everyone...see you all again soon!
