I have raised enough money to buy 4 Dyson Fans for the ward (£880) in the past year.. These really help the patients comfort when having their chemotherapy.

Medieval Fair Ludlow and more.......

Well the weather was vile last weekend but it didn't stop the people attending the Medieval Fair in Ludlow..Wind and rain--we had it all! But we had plenty of waterproof sheets around the outside of the stall and it was quite cosy inside..

Don't think Bill wanted his photo took LOL...we were non-stop all weekend with customers--lots of folk down from The Wirrel,, lovely chatting with them-one of my favourite accents! The wind was gusting really bad on the Sunday so we packed up earlier than we would have normally-stuff was blowing around and it could have been dangerous...we had all the sheets to get dry ready for Wednesdays market...

It was quieter on the Wednesday market after the weekend, the Christmas shopping rush just didn't happen!!! However Bill did spot these beautiful lilies (My Favourite) on Farmers stall next door--I had to cut them right down as they were 4 ft tall!

I have been raising money for the past few months for the O'Connor ward at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital where my son Jim has been treated for Hodgkin's Lymphoma for nearly 12 months now..I was able to buy these 2 Dyson Fans to donate to the ward this week, after getting them at a better price for Black Friday! £50 off so £180 each--I was well chuffed. The patients will be pleased with them, as the chemo makes you very hot and sweaty sometimes, and there isn't enough fans to go round--these are ideal because there isn't any noise or a blade to hurt anyone..I will be dropping them off at the hospital next Tuesday..

Jim will be going into the QE hospital ,Birmingham next Thursday to have his stem cell treatment which hopefully will put him into remission....they have harvested his own cells to use, but they have also found a perfect match donor if they need one..The treatment will be really harsh-he will have 5 days very intensive chemo to wipe out every cell before giving him back his own stem cells which hopefully will grow into healthy cells and make him better..he will have to stay in until his white cells are high enough to help him fight any infections ...fingers crossed he will be out for Christmas but if not Christmas will go to him in hospital!

''Into The Light'' Workshop

A lovely new subject for last Saturdays workshop. Using acrylic paint is shades of purples and blues--(the purples are not showing up at all in the photos for some reason ..) we soon had a really atmospheric background.. 9 of the ladies had come as a group for an early Christmas Treat, and bought along a few bottles of wine to enjoy which helped with the nerves a little! They all had lifts home so they could enjoy it!

its such a shame you cant see the detail of the twinkling stars  and the snowflakes floating down...it certainly isn't one of the easiest subjects I teach, but well worth the effort!

Winter Wonderland Workshop

Im very late getting the blog done again--where does the time go to? This subject has lots of different bits to it--some easy-some not so easy..but all the ladies tackled it really well and what great results we had from them! Looking forward to seeing them all again...

50 Shades Of Green

Apologies for being so behind with my blog and website....had problems with my laptop and only got it back last night--so lots and lots of catching up to do for me!   It was lovely to see some old friends back to paint again in the workshop-- we had not seen Jackie, Karen or Derek for a while..50 Shades of Green is an interesting picture to paint.  It certainly got the imaginations going in everyone! Wendy was painting with me for the first time and it was interesting to see her own style develop very quickly--she liked twisting the brush as she bashed--and created her own unique type of bushes etc...and her path developed into a waterfall and stream.....Derek -bless him has been very poorly lately and I had him tired out before lunch....I think he did really well to get as much done as he did---but he went home with a palette of all the colours we used and he will finish it in his own time,,,I have lost my list of names again doh!!!  But Sam bought along 4 lovely girls who all did really well, and enjoyed themselves!

Class of Aug 9th "Stormy Skies"

I had 2 last minute cancellations at 11pm on Friday night because of illness..so I was down to 12 students for Saturdays workshop..and they came from far and wide again---Claire's sat nav bought her the long way from Birmingham--we are not quite sure where she came but it involved a lot of country lanes so she was going back via Kidderminster! First time painting for her--we will also see her at the end of the month to paint The Waterfall!

Christine came along with another of her granddaughters-Alex for the second time... Christine's hubby stayed to watch the proceedings too,,and showed me his great camera--I liked it so much I came home and ordered one for myself! Been promising myself a new one for a bit...

Alex made a beautiful job of her painting..

Ann enjoyed working with the oils and got a really dramatic sky going on very quickly!

We had a good mix of subtle skies and more dramatic ones....

Jackie was starting to wish she hadn't put in quite so many waves  when it came time to drag the wave out with a brush after!

First time for Jackie who was supposed to come in March with her daughter and group of friends--unfortunately she had a fall and broke her ankle and had to put off coming until yesterday...

her daughter Michelle who was also painting for the first time had a call to say her hubby had had an accident just before we started the class...and had been rushed to hospital with suspected broken ribs--so they dashed off as soon as we finished--will be in touch with her to see how he is..

Steve was with us for the 3rd time..he and wife Sylvia chose to do the 12in x 24in canvas..he did a dramatic bold version and Sylvia went more subtle!

Demo At severn Valley Country Park nr Bridgnorth

We will be at the Severn Valley Country Park, Alveley ,Nr Bridgnorth on Thursday evening 7pm -9.pm doing a demo..I will be painting 2 pictures from start to finish during the evening in front of you using oils..

Furbies...........

As the house as slowly been taken over by paintings etc over the past few years I recently decided that it was time to get rid of some of the things that have been cluttering up the place and taking up precious room!       I collected the original 1998 Furbies for 4 or 5 years , and got up too around 140 of the little critters..I had just about every colour of them.       Baby ones and adults -they all had their own little personalities..     Me and Bill have had many a laugh at them talking to each other,   giggling at them having farting contests,feeding them and watching them make friends with each other! We have had loads of them with batteries in at a time some nights-and they all joined in singing songs etc. Anyway--time came to sell them on to new homes where they can be loved and played with some more..Above are some of the baby ones..

I couldn't be bothered to put them all on Ebay so decided to sell them on Facebook,,,I couldn't believe the response--within minutes people were asking for them...I'm charging just £15 each for them..and from those above there are only the ones left! .amazing results..I took the remaining ones to the market today and sold 10 to other stallholders

I'm sure their new owners will have lots of fun with them..

Never thought they would be so popular...but they are much more fun than the latest furbies to..I have kept my best ones,,the boxed ones that have never been out of the boxes, we have one who swears, a gay one and a depressed one too...I wont ever part with those..

Big Poppy Workshop

Well what a day we had on Saturday...I was expecting 11 and 16 turned up...must sack the secretary!!! Any way we always have extra brushes ,canvas etc on the van so it was OK! This workshop always takes a bit longer than the usual 4 hours mainly because of the drying times of the mediums and the paint..its amazing just how the paintings change through the workshop,,

as you can see we had a wide variety of colours...its one of those paintings that seems to work in whatever colour people choose..

love the purple and turquoise shades that Fregia did...

Subodh chose some beautiful yellow and oranges for his painting....it was really bright and vibrant

Sri chose the more tradition red and black

Carol had a bigger ,chunkier canvas to use...

its a good job we have a big room to use!

I loved Subodh's finished painting...none of the photographs do these paintings justice,,the texture and variations in colour just do not show up..

Sybils's painting really came to life when she added the silver wax middle..
