Grasses Workshop April 9th

Ken came along for the first time to paint with Amanda who has been once before to paint Serenity a few weeks ago..there were a few nerves to start with-that is completely normal! Ken soon got the hang of blending the paints, and had a lovely atmospheric sky pretty quickly..

Amanda achieved the most subtle results , so soft-and quite hard to do I find myself when using acrylics!

Janet has painted before and seemed to find the acrylic paint quite easy to handle..

Her friend Lindsey has only done a little painting before but again seemed to find the process quite easy too.

First time painting for Christine..no poppies for her as they wouldn't match the room where she wants to hang it,,instead she painted lots of lovely daisies--very pretty!

Jenny painted Cats In Trees a while back with me the first time, and this time around wanted to add some flowers to her painting that would match her bed linen , she bought along a pillow case so she could copy some onto her painting...they turned out very good too!

Some very happy artists!

Grasses Workshop

Only Judy on the left had painted before--and just once with me..everyone else were first timers... as to be expected there were quite a few nerves going on and pretty much everyone thought they wouldnt be able to do it!  This painting is one that does not quite come together until almost at the end...so getting everyone convinced it will be fine can be quite demanding for me LOL...Vivien on the right is in England on holiday from New Zealand and she had a lovely photo on her phone of a sunset where she lived and asked if she could use those colours..as you can see it worked out beautifully,,We used a narrow edge canvas  that will fit in her suitcase to take back, and gave her plenty of bubblewrap to protect it...We added some diaisies as well as poppies . Kate who had also travelled a long way from Northamptonshire  to paint, used some of Viviens blue paint to add some poppies...They looked stunning--the colour worked very well.  All in all, some stunning results from everyone..I have in stock small bottles of varnish so students can add the finishing touch to their paintings after a couple of days.Im sure they will all get brilliant feedback when they got their paintings back home,,,and hopefully we will see them again in the future!

Latest CLass Updates-Birch Trees-Nov 1st

This popular class is being attended by 6 students-Bev has had to drop out due to visitors-to say shes upset is an understatement-but we will be doing it again soon so she will be top of the list for that class!
I can fit one more student in for this class--but any more than 7 students in class just doesn't work.
By keep in the numbers small it ensures that everyone gets full attention from me.
It also means that everyone can make friends easily with each other and inter mingle with each other.
Something that has become a big part of my classes--there have been many firm friendships formed in classes.
''Birch Trees'' is suitable for all abilities and we always get stunning results from this class.
You will have the choice of painting this in monochrome or brown and cream/sepia
If you would like to join in please contact me via my website http://www.paintingmyway.co.uk/

Serenity In Green

After finding that the limeted palette of sap green and black worked well I decided to continue the theme onto another painting.
This time the canvas is 50 cm wide and 100 cm long.
The colour has not come out well on the photograph-its actualy more muted like the previous painting Tranquility In Green.
I have shown a close up of the detail in the bottom of the painting.
I went back to it several times and adjusted it.The grasses were left very simple to start, but It didnt quite work, so i added some heads to them and it worked a treat.
Im really pleased with the result.
The price is £180 including P+P in Uk.
please get in touch if you are interested in reserving this work.
Please note this is an oil painting and it will not be dry enough to post for several weeks.

Longest Summer Day

Ive had a very enjoyable day creating my latest work."Longest Summer Day" has been so called for obvious reasons-the canvas is a massive 5ft tall and just 1 ft wide.
Its been very interesting painting on a canvas this size, though it must be said its a little awkward to avoid getting paint everywhere-including on the kitchen ceiling!
Its now hanging in the bathroom drying. The sides are all painted and staple free so it does not require framing.
There is a bit more detail than is showing up in the photo-Ive lost some of the detail at the sides when I cropped it for the websites, so if you want a close up of any partsof the painting please get in touch via my website www.paintingmyway.co.uk
or www.dianetheartist.com
The price of this painting is £180 and that includes P+P in UK. If you are outside the UK please get in touch.
