Wednesday Club, Clee Hill

We had a lovely afternoon up on Clee Hill doing a demo for the Wednesday Club.There was a good turn out of 30 people, some of whom had seen me before at other local clubs.

I painted The Waterfall quicker than normal--10 mins to be exact! Everyone was a bit gobsmacked--and when it was passed around the room for people to see close up-they were amazed at how much detail I had managed to get in there in such a short time..Summer Day took a little longer at 15 mins!!! They were very interested in the workshops and Im sure we will be seeing some of them later in the year..

Two of the members have been married for 60 years.....so they were presented with a bottle and some flowers...

Winter Wonderland Workshop

Beautiful job you have made of your painting Alison...

There are always some people who come to class who are completely convinced they wont be able to paint--Allison was one of them--she said she came because she thought it would be a  laugh!  However as the day went on she became more and more serious about her painting--although we all still had a laugh...of course! I spoke to her on Facebook earlier this evening and she said all her family were impressed with her painting!

Georgie came along with her mum Allison --she followed my instructions really well....

Doreen came along for the first time with her daughter Sue-who had been once before! She was completely convinced she would not be able to paint a picture....but surprised herself  completely bless her..

Vivien seemed to find this one quite easy...but it is her 4th one....

Oriel--what can I say but well done! Oriel said when she came into the room that she hadn't got an artistic bone in her body....but it looks like she has got herself a new hobby now! She knew exactly what she wanted to do--and she didn't want a fence or tree in her painting--so she used the wiping out tool to make a delicate little bush in the corner of her painting--all without being shown by me how to do so! I should have had a close up of it--it was quite beautiful.

Will came along with Alison for the 2nd time...they are getting married soon and I will be attending her hen party and all the hens will be painting their own pictures-so they will all have something to remember the event by!

Sue with her painting-she wanted more purple/mauve tones--it isn't showing up great on the photo,,,but she achieved what she wanted..

Allison managed to get black paint everywhere...I told her she isn't a proper artist until she has paint on her face!

Tracey--she made a beautiful job of her picture--shape of the pond was great--that can be the hardest thing to do ibn this workshop---its so easy to go symmetrical when painting them..but everyone did very well today, some lovely random shaped ponds! Some of my photos have not come put again so if you are missing off todays blog--I'm sorry!

1 Year Today....

I cant believe its a year today since we lost our fur baby --Sparky cat....

he was a handsome bugger...

who looked as if butter wouldn't melt...

got into all sorts of funny positions...

had some huge white teeth..

tried his hardest to look like one of my favourite ornaments..

always nicked the best seat in the house,

loved to lie in the sun next to his favourite little mate,

got his legs in a right tangle sometimes..

always had his one fang showing...

could almost talk...

and loved to beg for some ham....

he was our boy and we miss him so bloody much everyday...wont be getting another one cos once you have had the best that's it..... RIP Sparky xxx

New Subjects

I have set a date to paint something a little different to the usual type of thing I teach after chatting with Silvie who came to the workshop on Saturday!   She works at Teme Leisure where I have my exhibition at the moment--she said all the younger members of staff loved the examples of the abstracts I had hung there and would love to have a go at something like it!     Dawn who was in class said she would book in--which she has already, and so on  Sat Sept 28th we will be painting "Around The Twist" It will be great fun--using colours and some imagination using oils on a chunky black canvas.20in x 16in or 16in x 20in----- I'm sure we will have some lovely vibrant results.

Sales and Stuff

Ive had a lovely few days with sales of paintings..."Lest We Forget" and "The Stormiest Skies" are going to be on their way to  Debenham ,Norfolk in the morning... My front room wall is going to be awful bare until I get another one painted! Ive had the poppy one on the wall above my green sofa  in there since before Christmas...I love the combination of reds and greens together.

The huge Poppy Delight sold from my exhibition at Church Stretton last Friday...

And  "Keep Looking Up" which is one like this one--is on its way to Reading today.. took a photo of the one that's sold, Bill wrapped it up to send --and I realised the photo hadn't turned out! So this is the nearest I have to it--this one is also sold! Again sold from Affordable British Art,, a brilliant site run by my dear friend Ros...,www.affordablebritishart.co.uk    must say the sales are very welcome after the workshops being as quiet as they have been lately...the 6 major shows we missed last year because of the awful weather is to blame for the lack of students--I pick up new students from the shows the summer before.. I expected it to be quieter this year-and I was right---though I am fully booked on some of them already too..lets hope the weather is better this year!
