Medieval Market

We don't have many more markets this year now--we had one the Sunday before the Medieval Fair which turned out quite busy..

Stormy Poppies went off too a new home as a 30th wedding anniversary present...

It was a record weekend for the medieval fair--well worth the 5am start on Saturday and 6am start on Sunday. I had to come home on the Saturday night and paint some more miniatures as I nearly sold out! Climbed into bed at 1am! So not much sleep-am still catching up in fact.!!. Another early start tomorrow for the usual Wednesday market..but its not long until we finish for the year--17th Dec is our last one of the year..There is a special Christmas market on Sunday 14th Dec  which we are looking forward to-will be lots of lovely craft stalls there.. we will return to the market again at the beginning of April 2015 every Wednesday..and all the usual Sunday ones as well.

Serenity Workshop Nov 22nd

Sorry about the delay in updating the blog--life has got in the way! Its been pretty hectic in one way and another-combined with me having a big flareup with my illness..pretty much back to normal now thanks goodness! We had a lovely time in the Serenity workshop in November...Cathy -above came from London the first time last year to paint with me--but has now moved quite near--She loves purple--so naturally chose the lovely dusky mauve as her colour!

Ruth has been once before with her Mum Beverly, they both chose to use shades of blue and purple for their painting--it worked really well...so well in fact that I did one myself in the same shades the following day on the market! It will be an option in future-along with the green,grey and dusky mauve.

Jerry was booked in as a pressie from his daughter who has been once before..he really enjoyed himself..

Carol used the lovely soft green for her painting--

Loved the grey version...Alison seemed to find it very easy!

Sheila was convinced that she wouldn't  be able paint anything worthwhile after being told at school that she wasn't artistic...she got quite emotional as the day went on and her beautiful painting progressed.. I feel so privileged to be able to give people the feeling of achievement that they get when they come to a workshop...

The last bit of snow really adds a big difference..and the final touch of subtle glitter on the snow really makes a lovely touch..

Encaustic Workshop

What fun we had on Saturday in the encaustic wax workshop...8 students joined me to use a special iron and coloured beeswax..Its completely different to using paints and brushes on canvas! They students did 6 postcard size pictures to start with--just to get used to how the wax worked when it was melted...and we had some stunning results!Above you can see Kirsty and Sandra making a start on their small ones..

Its the most addictive form of art there is--and Jackie was hooked right away--and says she knows what she wants for Christmas now LOL..I gave everyone the details of where to buy the things needed to do encaustic art at home www.wakeswaxes.co.uk

I think everyone was quite amazed at how quickly the pictures developed--and they dry fast as well--it can take just seconds to do..

Just amazing how many different sorts of effects you can get ..

This is one of Pauline's small pictures-- I showed everyone how to use the iron as a hot plate as well--you can get completely different effects! We could see a little piggy and a dog in the middle of this one!

After doing the small ones we moved onto the big pictures--we used sheets of thin perspex which we framed afterwards..

Bill keeping an eye on things--he is very good at encaustic art and has sold quite a few of his pictures on the local market!

We could see all sorts in Jackie's picture--palm trees, birds and Ive just spotted a bird in the bottom right of it now!
