Holiday Fun In Devon

A lot of our holidays start with a drive over the Severn Bridge,,,,hate it and love it at the same time!

We stopped off in Weston Super Mare , its about halfway to our destination in Devon so seemed an obvious choice..The sand sculptures were on display s we all went to have a look for the first time--

We arrived at Woodford Bridge Park at 3pm , just before check in so we went off to buy some essentual supplies from the nearby village--wine, bread, wine, teabags, wine, you get the drift ;-)

We had bought a deal off Wowcher for the 2 bedroomed lodge at Woodford Bridge Park, and our friends Marion and Phil joined us, travelling down behind us in their car.. We were all surprised at the lodge we were allocated.. loads of room, very well equipt kitchen etc..

Bed was lovely and comfortable

We had an en-suite and Marion and Phil had the family bathroom next to their room.

Lovely large table and chairs t seat six... the lodge sleeps six--bed settee in living room..

The kitchen had everything you needed,,,washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave etc etc... plus everything else you could ever need..

A lovely patio area to sit outside..

And look what came visiting every day... it does not get better than this...

The peacocks were just beautiful..very tame and turned up all the time,, the Hob Nobs may have had something to do with it!

The colours are so beautiful..

We ate out every day, and just had a 'picnic supper' each night,,

couldnt resist having some lovely fresh Devon scones with clotted cream and jam one evening...

the back of a peacocks tail is just as interesting as the front really!

We had a trip to the gnome reserve in nearby Holsworthy.. what an enchanting place that was! And its compulsory to wear a gnome hat!

So many things to see and do there--children are not needed to go and enjoy it!

there is an 'ottery pool' where you can fish out pebbles with numbers on, and paper and pen are supplied in a watertight pod for you to write them down!

After you have walked around the gnome reserve in the forest you go back to the shop where you are given a quiz to do around the wildflower garden,,, spotting how many fiaries you can see is one of the questions..

We had a few trips into Bude...

some beach art LOL

you can't beat a pick and mix for supper!

While on Bude beach, Bill noticed a large stone, when he picked it up he noticed it had some cracks in the white line..

he pressed each side and it split apart,,we all stood in amazment as the inside of the rock appeared to us.. never ever seen before--and just us 4 friends witnessed it..It was quite magical.

inside the rock..

couldnt resist buying Ziggy from the gnome reserve...and he needed somewhere to sit-- can you believe the one part of the stone was just perfect for him?
