Path Through Birch Tree Woods

Here is my latest piece of art that I have been working on during the past week. I have had a free day today , so have been able to concentrate on finishing this work.
Each of the 3 canvas measures 20 cm x 60 cm so its 60cm x60 cm in total.
However it looks at its best when the canvas are hung a couple of cm apart so you can see the detail on the sides of the canvas.
My monochrome collection has proved very popular over the past year.
They look great against any colour wall, in any room. They suit today's contemporary home or the more traditional home.
The paintings will be coated in 3 coats of high quality artists varnish before posting. The price of these paintings is £200
They will be ready to post after this Wednesday March 19Th.
The P+P in UK is included in the price .If you are outside the UK please get in touch via the www.paintingmyway.co.uk website

Ledbury Art Society

We went to Ledbury today to do a demo for the local art society. There was a good turn out and it was a very interesting morning for everyone concerned!

There were lots of questions from the very interested audience-who had never seen the like before!

Everyone was amazed to see the speed at which the paintings developed, paintng on a black canvas proved to be new to everyone there, most of the people there were watercolourists and the technique I used with the oil paints was quite a novelty to them!
I painted Winter Wonderland and Summer Day for them, and Lesley won the Summer Day painting and Jill won the winter Wonderland one.
Both said they had never won anything before in their lives so they were chuffed to bits with their prizes!

Lilian---star pupil!

This is lilian painting her waterfall painting.
She wont mind me telling you that she is 83 years old.
We met lilian last year when we at St Audries. She said then''I feel like Ive known you for years,'' ----the feeling was very mutual!!!
Lilian painted her first painting last year and she painted 2 more this year.
The waterfall painting was much admired by everyone who viewed them--- all the paintings were put on display next to the dining room, and she actualy had someone want to buy her painting, but she didnt want to sell it!!!
Her grandaughter claimed her black and white birch tree painting last year, saying it was beautiful. Lilians son Graham who is the bar manager at St Audries wanted her to paint the poppy field painting which she promptly did and gave to him!
When she returned to Neath her grandaugher said to her that she had found her vocation in life, must say I agree.Lilian is a natural and although I said she was quite capable of painting at home she said she would wait til next year cos she enjoyed the classes so much!
I have a feeling that we will be seeing more of Lilian well before next year!!!
Her son Graham is the bar manager at SA and he had requested that she paint the poppy field painting. She did so and no one could tell hers from mine

Terry and Anne

Here are Anne and Terry with their Summer Day paintings they did at St Audries.
Anne thought she would have to attend every day in order to produce ONE painting.
When I explained to her that she could do one in less than 4 hours she didnt belive me.
The proof of the pudding is in the eating they say--Anne is coming to me at Ludlow in the near future as she lives not to far away in Brum! She was gobsmacked by the result and her husband couldnt belive his eyes when he came to collect her.
She admitted after the class that she hadnt slept all night worrying that she wouldnt be able to do it------she was very pleasantly surprised!!
Terry returned a week later and painted another beautiful picture.

Another Sunset

Another of the beautiful sunsets--I never tire of seeing them!

marys painting

This is Mary with her Birch Tree painting.
Mary is the owner of St Audries Bay Holiday Club.
Last year she painted the Summer Day painting, and was over the moon with the result.
She exelled herself this year with her latest painting!!! Her husband didnt belive she had painted it.
It is on display in the reception area by tarriff board for everyone to see!!!

From Small Acorns

After announcing at the beginning of August that I will be holding an exhibition of my students work, I have given a lot of thought as to what it should be called and
I have decided to call the exhibition ''From Small Acorns'' As from the old saying'' From little acorns mighty oaks grow'' which is exactly what I see happening with my students when they come to me.
They walk in the door the first time and are usualy a bag of nerves and convinced they will fail to produce a decent painting---- they leave full of confidence and pleased as punch with what they have achieved--its the best part of this job.
I will be having a children's section as well as the adults. If there is any wall space left I will maybe hang a few of my own!!
If I have not already contacted you about putting your paintings into the exhibition, please get in touch-- via the telephone preferably.
There is no charge for putting the paintings in the exhibition and if you want to sell them you are free to do so--after all one of my students Catherine has sold 4 out of the 5 paintings that she has done in my classes--the last one for £180. She said she had priced it high because she didn't want to sell it!!
Its a good reflection on my teaching though and Im as pleased as punch for her!!
The way the year is going it will soon be here!!

Nice To Be Appreciated

I have hd some lovely surprises over the past few days-on Saturday Carol presented me with this beautiful arrangment that she had made as a thank you gift for me, its really beautiful and is sented with rose oil so my room is filled with the most beautiful scent all the time.
I had a letter from Jan (Mrs Subtle!!!) who attended the class at Hadnall a couple of weeks ago thanking me for a great time and booking herself and her daughter in law in for the Tropical summer day class on the 10th Nov.
This morning I had a lovely letter from Alice who I met on Saturday at Onslow Park. She was a very keen student and created a beautiful encaustic painting. Her dad came back first thing on Sunday morning to buy an encaustic set for her as she was so excited by the experience.
Unfortunatly I had sold out of everything except for my demonstration set and a pack of card, I managed to make up a box of waxes out of my own and we eventualy managed to make up a set for Alice to start creating at home. Its so nice when youngsters take the time to say thank you. I will be writing back to Alice and enclosing a few more encaustic cards for her to frame and hang on her wall!!

Who Wanted Mosaic Tiles!!

I didnt realise when I chose the tiles for the kitchen walls, just how much work was involved in grouting them! 2 days Ive been at it, but what a difference its made, the whole lot looks much lighter than before, I will take some more pics tomorrow so you can see the difference.
I decided to tile behind the dishwasher and the cooker, or rather I wanted Bill to tile behind the dishwasher and cooker, so this has made more work for him-hes very patient with me bless him!

Ive made a start with the glass-Im experementing with some different colours which the client wants and I am emailing the different examples to her to see which she likes the best.

BBQ

Well after a morning mooching at the car boot sale, we decided to hold a family bbq, so we rushed off to the supermarket to stock up with steak and burgers, I have made some of my celery, nut, apple and sultana colslaw and Bill has made his own colslaw cos he dont like celery!
I have also made a delicious mango and tomato sweet chilli salsa to go with it all--I think the diet has gone out of the window this weekend somehow-but you have to make the most of this weather!!
Off now to prepare some more food!

Todays Class

This is todays class, from the left-Hayley, Carole, Brian, Jean and Sarah.

We had decided to do a mystical waterfall painting, and the results were beautiful.

It was the first time for both Sarah and her mother-in -law Jean who I had met at Shobdon Food and Drink Festival, and they were very surprised at what they achieved in their first class.

They all had an 'enchanted' look about them, right from the onset the paintings were completly different to each other, Sarah's sky was great, it drew you into the painting right from the start, Jean was a little nervous to start with and had to be encouraged to do a little more to her sky.

Everones waterfalls turned out completely different to each others, the difference is quite amazing we had big ones, wide ones -- all shapes and sizes!!.

Sarah also turned out to be a natural at tree's, much the same as Carole--its funny how some people find some things easier than others, some find trees a doddle and some find them more difficult, others find the waterfall harder than others. But that is what makes the classes interesting for both me and the students--we had such a laugh today- Sarah also won the messiest palette competition that we have every class-as you can see there isnt much space left on there!

Latest Painting ---Tribal Dance

This another of my latest works. Its called Tribal Dance.
It measures 80cm x 70cm and is painted onto staple free box canvas.
The price of this painting is £150 including P+P in UK .
If you are outside the Uk please get in touch.
It is created using layers of acrylic and oil paint.
The sides have been left black.
Beautiful shades of blues, purples , greens and white mingle and merge in the geometric patterns.
I have sold several paintings like this in the past and I thought it was time to start doing some more abstract work.
Something I have to be in the mood for--
I have really enjoyed myself today-Bill was around and in and out while I was painting-he has made a start sorting out the garage-we will need the room for when the BIG decorating plurge starts soon!!!!!!!

More Pics From The Childrens Class

Here is Svanah who painted a great picture in todays class, some really spooky trees, and she tryed really hard to get her reflections right in the pond too!!! She did really well, and listened to what I told the class very carefully!

Some More Pictures from Childrens Class

This little star got more paint on herself than on the canvas-but she is only just 5 years old and Rivkah produced the most beautiful painting! David is putting the finishing touches to his painting by putting a moon in, he is only 7 years old and is Rivkahs big brother.
I have just had an email from Sarah, the childrens mum saying how much the children enjoyed their day painting with me-well all I can say to they is that they were a joy to teach and I look forward to seeing them again when they come next time with all the family!

Sparkys done it again!

I swear the cat knows when we have a little extra money--without fail he gets into a scrape and needs the vet!
Today we got back to find him very sore on the back end and blood all over the spare bed.
He has been fighting again with something.
He will have to go to the vets again tomorrow for anti-biotics and pain-killers.
He is feeling very sorry for his self at the moment!

Paintings

After finding myself with a free morning after all the floods, I decided to do some tweaking of some of my previous paintings.
There was just a few bits annoying me in each of these Winter Walk paintings!
I just altered the paths a little bit and added a bit more snowy foliage and Im very please with them now!
