Todays Class-Mellow Moods

We had a lovely day today painting Mellow Moods. From left-Linda,Doreen, Bev, Pauline and Chris. Everyone had been before except for Linda who was painting her very first painting ever!
You would never have thought it to see her finished painting though!.
We hadn't expect Bev to turn up today after Doreen had told us that her friend Bev was poorly-but it just shows how addictive the classes are-Bev turned up and although she was really quite poorly painted a beautiful painting.
We wish you a speedy recovery Bev.

If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers just pry it loose with a drewscriver.
Sample the wine to check for tonsisticity.
Next, sift two cups of salt. Or something.
Check the wine.
Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.
Add one table.
Add a spoon of sugar, or some fink.
Whatever you can find.
Greash the oven.
Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over.

Droitwich Art Society

We had a lovely evening last night at Droitwich Art Society. There was a good crowd at the hall which had fantastic lighting for me to paint by!
As usual with the art societies there were lots of interesting questions all night and almost everyone was taking notes.
I expect to see some of them in the future in classes and several of them were interested in having me to do demos at various other groups.
I only managed to get a photograph of Keith with his painting of Summer Day he won in the raffle, I was kept so busy afterwards answering questions, the winner of the other painting Winter Wonderland had gone home before me getting a photo of the painting or the winner herself!

I have got to find time to look up my dates for next year--Wellsbourne Art Society have asked me to return for the 3rd time in March next year!
The members who attended the Birch Tree class earlier this year have taken their paintings along to the meeting and everyone was well impressed with them!
As usual we will make a few days of it as we really love the area-maybe we will incorporate it into our wedding anniversary/my birthday and stay in the lovely posh hotel we came across last time we were there!

Logo

I was approached a short time ago by Richard who has a small company.

They have been looking for a suitable painting to use as their logo on their Banners, business cards etc.

After checking out my website http://www.dianetheartist.com/

he found several paintings that were suitable and got in touch.

The printer had told him that the images needed to be original size-not re sized as they were on the computer.

Unfortunately all of the paintings were already sold and the remaining one was the wrong colour.

Fortunately my friend Annette was able to do wonders with a full size image I took of the pink poppy painting.

I'm useless with the computer--cant do anything like that---Ros has promised me some lessons when we see her later this month in Scotland!

Annette manged to colour the pink to the scarlet red wanted by Richard, and we are just waiting to hear if it is suitable.

I have asked for a donation for the British Heart Foundation for using the image and Richard is happy with that.

I have raised money before from people using the images of my paintings-one of which had been made into gift wrapping paper!

PLEASE NOTE THE IMAGE SHOWN IS NOT THE ONE CHOSEN BY THE COMPANY--WILL SHOW YOU ALL WHEN ITS ALL CUT AND DRYED!

Bishops Castle Michaelmas Fair

We have had a lovely day today, first of all we went to Leominster Boot sale-we haven't been for weeks because of doing various craft fairs and also the weather. It was lovely to wander around and pick up some bargains-like a new cd system which sounds just brilliant and has been set up in the kitchen!I also bought some lovely jewelry for myself! As if I need any more!
I did also buy a lovely stand to hang necklaces and earrings off as well, so will be able to keep the new stuff tidy!
Then we went off to Bishops Castle Michaelmas Fair-we have never been there before and what a great event it was.
Bill was in his element-loads of steam engines, tractors and lorries on display.
All of the streets were buzzing with people and stalls. There was loads to see.
The morris dancers were very entertaining-how they kept it up with the dancing with it being so hot I don't know--but the funny thing is neither of us noticed the spotted house in the background when we watched them! Its only now when I was putting the photos on the computer that I 'spotted it!'
We went into the craft tent and got talking to one of the exhibitors who makes soaps of all description's from goats milk.We bought some coffee soap which removes smells from your hands-handy when Ive been cleaning brushes and some nettle soap which is great for dry skin.
She gave us all the imformation for next year and hopefully we will be doing the fair ourselves.
It had a lovely atmosphere and we really enjoyed ourselves there. Its not many miles from home , cant understand why we havent been to it before!

E Bay

Ive spent a few minutes updating my ebay 'Me' page.
Ive now added all the details of my classes etc-take a look -now all I need to do is sort out just what else Im going to sell on there!
Ive got to have a massive clothes sort out this week-so I expect a lot of clothes will be going on there as well as some of the knick knacks that have been gathering dust!

Wye Valley magazine

When we eventually got home tonight there was a message on the answerphone.

Sharon From the Wye Valley magazine had seen the article about me in the Ludlow Lifestyle Magazine and wanted to do an article about me in her magazine!

I rang her back and she gave me all the info about it-then I had to email her my biography and some paintings with all the for sale info about them to go in to the Sept issue!
The mag covers a big range of places,an even bigger one than the Ludlow one covers, but both are out at the same time time so Im getting lots of exposure as an artist.

So I have been busy all evening doing that,Im off down from my study to join my long suffering hubby Bill.

Path Through The Birch Trees

Ive just signed the contract to allow the film director John-Paul Kelly who has bought the "Path Through The Birch Trees" painting to use it on film sets!
It will be interesting to see if we ever spot them in any films or TV programs.
He will be hiring them out to different set designers, so they could turn up anywhere!!!

Mandy's Winter Wonderland

Mandy came for her one to one today. She was to join the class of Saturday March 22nd but had to cancel that because of other commitments.
YOu can see how her painting progressed step by step.
It was the second time that she had painted on a black canvas, the first being a waterfall painting some time ago.
It seemed strange to her to be putting transparent paint onto a black canvas because she couldnt see where the paint had covered.
As soon as we started to add the white paint, the atmospheric sky started to appear, then we went on to add the bushes and trees then the snow.
The pond was soon done using the fan brush and the tickling brush. The reflection of the main tree was added and then we were ready for the finishing touches ,the broken fences in the forground and the moon with some little clouds drifting across it.
She was chuffed to bits with the finished result!
We wil be seeing her again very shortly in the Birch tree walk class on March 29th

A lovely Day

After breakfast we went to the first boot sale of the season at leominster, picked up some more bargains, including some crayons for use on fabric-will have some fun personalising the aprons used in class with them!
Then back to clean out the stick insects-boy have they grown.I gave Paddy the parrot a good shower with the spray botle while I had it out spraying the sticks, then after calling round at mums to drop off her mothers day pressies, back to cook a beautiful roast beef dinner.
The roses I had for valentines day were about finished so I gently pulled all the petals off and put into some pretty glass dishes. They will continue to dry out in the sunny kitchen windowsill. Then when complety dry I will put some rose scented pot pourri oil on them.A real lasting memento of a great day!

Im now doing all the updating of my sites and catching up on emails!
Also got to send off the applications for some craft fairs coming up this summer. We seem to need more space every year with doing both encaustic demos and oil and acrylic demos too!!!!

Sunset

As I was helping Bill dish out the roast lamb dinner at around 5pm this evening, I glanced through the kitchen window and saw this beautiful sunset. I couldnt resist grabbing the camera and taking some shots-its amazing how quickly it changes colour, some more inspiration for some paintings when I get time to paint them!
We are popping over to Stafford tomorrow to pick up my friend who is pet/house sitting while we are away this week.
We are off to Oxfordshire to attend a new acrylic paint seminar.
As it is our wedding anniversary shortly we have decided to combine the two things and we are booked into a lovely 16th century Inn for 2 nights. Must say Im really looking forward to spending some quality time with my long suffering hubby Bill!!!
The place we are staying has had some fantastic reviews on both the accomadation and the food-so a real treat in store for us!
Sparky and Paddy are both looking forward to being spoiled rotten while we are away--I swear they both put on weight whenever we go away and leave them!!!

Exchange is no Robbery!!!

we had some unusual guests at the class first thing today--Sharleen breeds Tuxedo Platies and we had agreed to swop some for a new blank canvas! We had restocked our large 4ft tank with various fish, but we still had room for some of these delightful lively fish. They arrived at the class safe and sound in a plastic bag contained in a bag designed to keep cans of drink at the right temp-which also works great at keeping tropical fish at the right temp!
I had also promised her some canvas for designing the ''from small acorns''exhibition 'private view invites' and the posters, so we had a swopping session! Me and Bill would have been on the computer for days trying to do them so a great big thanks for that Shaxx

Robbie , craft fair and radio shropshire!

I have had a call today from Robbie from Wolverhampton, who has been to me many times, wanting to know if I can squeeze in another private class this week--he has a fantastic idea for a painting-unfortunatly I havent got a spare minute between now and next weekend. I will see Robbie in Oct to help him create his painting!

We have just got back from setting up at the craft fair at the college--Chris who organises it for the air ambulance is very good-she gives me plenty of space because I demonstrate.

We had a terrific plug on Shropshire Radio from Colin Young who I met at Onslow Park, his young daughter had an encaustic lesson and was so impressed with it her dad came back and bought the entire kit for her! I had a lovely letter off Alice thanking me for her lesson.
It sounds like her dad is getting good at encaustic art too as well!
Thanks Colin for the mention,I am sure we will get some more people coming in for a go after all your praise!

For once I hadnt taken enough paintings down there with us--I usualy take too many.I have had another sort out and some more to take with us in the morning.
