The Mount B+B, 61 Gravel Hill, Ludlow

Places to stay in Ludlow! www.themountludlow.co.uk

Although I'm not 100% fit by a long way yet ,when we were asked by Mandy and Ray if we wanted to check out the guest house for ourselves we jumped at the chance!

The reviews on Trip Advisor are excellent--and after out guided tour we can understand why!

We were greeted by Mandy who showed us into the beautiful breakfast room-which has wonderful views all over Whitcliffe and lower end of Ludlow.
One thing that impressed us was the fact that all the tables have salt and pepper grinders on them instead of the usual shakers-a small but important touch!
The house has a very relaxed feel to it, right from when you enter the front door--we were shown round all of the bedrooms-all of which are bright and airy and spotlessly clean.
There is loads of room even in the smallest single bedroom-which makes a refreshing change-we have stayed in some really tiny rooms different times!
All of the room have a large ensuite as well.
I can understand why they are booked up so far in advance after seeing the place for ourselves!
Ray is happy to pick you up from the station if you arrive by train, and he has offered to bring Doreen, one of my students who is staying with them in Sept to the painting class as well, so that will be a help for her!
I have left Mandy and Ray with some leaflets and one of my Summer Day paintings as well-so people will be able to see exactly what sort of pictures they can create during my workshops!

It was lovely to meet them both and see their beautiful guest house--if you are thinking of coming to Ludlow to paint with me I recommend you try and get booked into The Mount-you wont be disappointed I'm sure!

Finished Off

While I had the paints out today, I found a few paintings that I knew needed a bit of finishing off---not a lot of work to do to them , just little bits and pieces.
I used a lovely violet iridescent paint to highlight the tree in the Mystical moon one-it looks great when the light catches it.
I can get them varnished tomorrow and load them onto my websites.

Big Suprise in Poppy Fields Class Tomorrow

I am wondering what one of the students will think tomorrow--his wife is putting the postcode of the painting class venue into his satnav and sending him off with a sandwich and my mobile number-he hasn't a clue where he is going or what he is going to do!
She spoke to me a couple of weeks ago and arranged it for a surprise for him!
Cant wait to see his reaction!
Out of the 7 people coming tomorrow only one has been before and that is Hannah-everyone else is a newbie-including another child aged 9.

Fish

I
Ive been trying to get some snaps of the fish as I want to do some paintings of them.
It was lovely to sit and watch them for a while today-but so hard to get soem good pics! The water is lovely and clear now and the lillies are growing really well. Some of the leaves are 18in across.
We throw food onto the leaves and watch the fish try and work out the best way of getting it off there.Moby the big grey one swims across the leaves and takes the food with him while the big Silver favors coming up underneath and pushing the leaf out of the water so the food rolls off.
Its amazing how they have grown over the years-Moby is one of the original ones we had 8 years ago.

New Class March 21st--Poppies

I have been having a shuffle around with some class dates. I have put this new class subject in on Sat March 21st instead of the poppy field one.
This new painting is suitable for all ages and abilities . Its very effective and is painted onto a black background which makes it a little less scarey than a white one for the more nervous artist.
If you would like to join this class please get in touch viathe new website www.paintingmyway.co.uk

Britsh Heart Foundation Charity Auction

I have donated 2 paintings for the following appeal.
Sian the area cordinator got in touch as I have helped this charity several times before in different ways.
Its a charity very close to my heart as my hubsband Bill had a heart attack 5 years ago and my dear Dad passed away suddenly 3 years ago with heart failure.
These arent the actual paintings--I havent time to search for the images at the moment-got a thousand and one things to be doing at moment, but they are along the same lines! A "Summer Day" one and a "Birch Tree" one.
. The auction is on Monday 3rd November at 7.30pm, at the Barley Mow Public House in Droitwich, Worcestershire. It is in aid of the Worcester Balloon Appeal, to raise £38,000 for a lifesaving Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) for the Worcestershire Royal Hospital. This will help more patients to be treated locally, whilst also supporting acutely ill patients on the ITU.
If you are able to get along to the auction please do-its for a very good cause.
