Shobdon --Matts Painting

While I was demonstrating on Saturday Matt Teale the sports commentator off TV came by and asked me if I would do a painting for his home. His girlfriend wanted a specific colour to match the kitchen or Matt would have a big decorating job to do!
Luckily we had a lady selling cushions next to us and she had the perfect colour cushion for me to work from!
I mixed the colour when I got to Shobdon on Sunday and waited for Matt and girlfriend to come by as they wanted to see the painting being done!
They were amazed to see the painting completed in less than 15 mins and they loved the colour as well!
It was left on my easel for safe keeping and lots of people admired it, then along came David and Anne who asked if I would paint one for them as well!
I agreed and said I would make theirs a little different to Matts by adding a snow covered tree in the foreground.

Tomorrow's Class

Im really looking forward to tomorows class.
I love working with acrylic paint and the subject in this class is completed entirely with acrylic paint.
There are several differnt sorts of acrylic paint used for this subject and its going to be great fun watching this painting develop tomorrow.
Ive got people coming from a long way away off tomorrow, Ive spoken to all of them and told them not to worry about being late for class--We understand that when travelling a distance its not always possible to get here exactly on time.
My classes are always easy on and laid back as well as being very imformative.
I dont want anyone getting speeding tickets! As long as I know you are coming the class will wait for your arrival!

St Valentines Day

Well we have had a lovely day-- Bill had some fun trying out the new camera and printer--an amazing bargain off hot deals!! Just £55 for the 2!!! Its over £300 on Amazon.
Just the job to print off pics of the students on the day of the class if they want one!!
I had some beautiful red roses and a romantic CD for St Valentines Day. We went out for a lovely romantic 3 course meal tonight at the Bull Ring Tavern. Couldnt fault it--we have been there every week for their steak night special-so knew it would be good!!!
I bought my cheese home in a doggy bag as I couldnt manage to eat it all--very generous portions--it comes very highly recommended by us!
Back on the diet tomorrow!!!!!!

New Bathroom

Its been a busy week for us-my son has had to get a new bathroom suite because the old plastic bath had started leaking.
Of course they had to call on Bill to help, so we have been round there most of the week-hence not much happening on the blog!

My 2 old girls -Smoky and Gizmo my 20 year old burmese cats have loved having us there-they have have bucket loads of fuss-and extra food treats! You would never belive they were 2o years old to see then running around.
Gizmo is at the front of this pic and Smoky behind her.
They are tiny little things compared to our Sparky and they are very vocal and talk a lot in their own way!

Ally's Painting

Sadly todays student Mary couldnt make it for her present of a painting class. However her friend Ally came in her place.
As you can see although she was confident she would never be able to produce anything worthy of showing anyone , she painted this beautiful waterfall scene!!
She was typical of many of my "First Timers" convinced she wouldnt be able to do it--if I had a £ for every time I heard that one I would be very rich!
We spent the first 30 mins introducing Ally to Paddy Parrot and Sparky cat! Then we were nattering to Bill, so it was turned 11.30am before we got started.Ally couldnt belive just how quickly the picture started to take shape, she got the hang of the bashing brush and tickling brush very quick. When it came to the painting knife, she had no trouble-you would think she had used one for years.
When we finished Bill made her a box to transport her painting home safely--Ally has 14 horses as well as dogs and cats and she transports a lot of hay and straw in the car--we have visions of the picture being covered in bits before she got it home, so Bill made a lid for it too!!

The Private Viewing

The private viewing went very well on Wednesday evening , everyone enjoyed themselves very much.As you can see 2 of my 'smallest acorns 'came from Telford with their mum, they are stood proudly with their paintings.

The time went so quickly-one minute it was fairly quiet the next minute it was heaving with people.

There was plenty of cheese and pate for everyone and Bill had iced one of his christmas cakes that morning to take along--all of the students had heard about 'Billies boozy christmas cakes' in the classes, so they all tryed it and everyone agreed its the best cake ever!!! He even won a £5 bet off someone who didnt belive he had made it!

Everyone said about the quality of the work produced by the students. There was a comment in the comments book from someone who is a member of Leominster Art Society saying that they were very impressed with the standard of the teaching and what the students had on display, so that made me feel very chuffed!

Jack fell in love with one of the artworks on display ''the birch trees'' so it will be going to live in Upton Upon Severn shortly. This range of paintings is becoming very popular
African Dream is also going to a new home.
