Painswick Weekend

We have had a lovely weekend away for my Bill's 67th birthday in Painswick in the Cotswolds. We stayed at the Cardynham House in the centre of Painswick...beautiful  room, spotless clean and the food was to die for!

Lovely comfy 4 poster bed..

Loads of storage in the room..

A huge walk in wardrobe....

lovely shower room..

Lovely toiletries..

Loads of soft white towels..

The breakfast was to die for---

Just around the corner was the local church--the yes trees in the grounds were just stunning--every one trimmed up into beautiful shapes..

The front of the Cardynham House..

The door in and out is quite a bit shorter than my Bill--

Not the best of views maybe ..but hey who spends time looking out of the window? It was the quietest place we have ever stopped--no sound of traffic at all...

We ate at the pub next door --The Royal Oak--both nights...didn't want anything else to eat until evening after the huge breakfast!  First night we had beautiful gammon with eggs and fresh pineapple, and the next night a beautiful Sunday dinner..lovely thick gravy! Been back on the Slimming World plan since returning home--so the few LB's gained will be shifted asap..

A Few New Changes!

As you will have noticed there are a few changes to the blog--Ive changed the colours around,,,,not sure if it will stay this way or be changed again yet!
I'm able to get bigger photos on here now as well, so that is good.
The other major change is what this little tiny gadget has made to me.Ive had my hearing aid for a month now and its really helping my tinnitus, it hasn't cleared it up completely but I'm getting more time 'quiet' now than I have in 16 months.I can also hear the TV and people talking better so good all round..its a tiny little thing--it can hardly be seen..fingers crossed it will help get rid of the tinnitus altogether!    Im also down to just 8mg steroids a day for the polymyalgia,,so am really pleased about that as well..It has been a bit up and down over the Christmas period but has settled down nicely again and with luck I will be cutting down to 7.5mg which is classed as a low dose very soon.  I only put on 1.5lb over Christmas when I went to weigh in at Slimming World--and when I went to weigh in last week I had lost that so its all going the right way...

Food Glorious Food!

Its lovely to go out into the garden and pick fresh fruit and veg...they taste so much better than shop bought--and we know there are no horrible sprays been near them as well....The blackberries are ripening quickly now..and the apples-what few there are -cookers and eating-- will be ready soon. Apple and blackberry crumble is springing to mind--is there a Slimming World recipe I wonder?
Didn't have much of a crop of tomatoes this year--the wet weather earlier on spoiled them...but the new 'yellow stuffers' are looking good. Never tried these before..and there was a nice lot of 'sungold' mini tomatoes as well.
I have never tryed the 'yellow stuffers' before so it was a bit of an experiment really...I used the tiniest of the sungold tomatoes and some of our favourite ''Low Low'' cheese spread ,with  a sprinkle of rainbow pepper and garlic flakes to fill them with before putting them into a hottish oven
yummmm
Bill spatcocks and skins a chicken several times a week, then I cover it in dried onion or garlic and some paprika and dry roast until cooked. Its delish..and the dry onion etc forms a skin so it doesn't feel as if you are missing out -if like me you cant resist the skin off a roast chicken! And Its all free on SW plan....as much as you like as often as you like...
with a huge salad and a jacket spud-topped with more Low Low cheese spread it was to die for...and we were both too stuffed to eat pudding......
