Poppy Workshop

Its amazing how different the paintings are right from the start..
14 year old Charlotte used the red shades..
Loved the shades of blue in Jennete's painting
Youngest in class today was 9 year old Emma--she made a lovely job of her painting in shades of purples!

Claire's painting quickly took shape, reminded me of a beautiful anemone

Sara really got into it and was covered in paint--looked like she had committed a murder

Sara's painting coming along nicely.

Sylvia used the lovely Bordeaux purples...she came back with her friend Jennette from Kidderminster 'Young At Art' club-we are going over there to do a demo for the group on Mon June 2nd..looking forward to it very much!

we add texture using melted wax...

Jo and Helena even had time for a chinwag in between stages!

this workshop really isn't for the faint-hearted--its quite an epic to do-with lots of stages using different mediums and paints. It takes around 5 hours to complete..

Rachael adding some detail with some silver paint..

Emma adding some lovely detail using the silver paint around the melted wax..

The photos really don't do these paintings justice--it does not show all the lovely texture created,or the shades of reds that are in the red poppies..we had lots of fun at the end adding various colours of glitters and lava rock mediums--they will all be stunning when they are varnished!

Sharon loved doing the melted wax part--and at the end I gave them all a lesson in encaustic wax paintings-and a lot of them had a go at it..

beautiful results ladies!

well done everyone!
It was a long day for us--I had woken up with sciatica really bad and had loads of painkillers and anti-inflammatories before we went..lots of walking up and down and round in this workshop--more than normal..so it was good to get home and have a chill out with a glass of Rose wine..luckily it seems better today!
