Changes To Classes

I have had to come to a decision about the classes!
I am going to increase the size of the classes to 9 students due to popular demand.
I have taught 9 students in the last 3 classes and everyone is still getting plenty of individual attention and the quality and detail of the paintings being created in class has not been compromised at all!

I have also decided that I will not be doing the Ludlow Food and Drink Festival craft market this year on Saturday 12th September-the reason is that Im doing a lot of big shows this year which will generate a lot more students-and Ive already found that there isnt enough Saturdays left in the year to keep up with the demand as it is-
so Im going to decide soon which painting will be done on that date and hopefully get rid of some of the backlog!
The subject will be on the website and here as soon as Ive decided which one Im doing!

Gloucester Arts and Crafts School-Day 1

We arrived at Gloucester for the 2 day summer school after an early start on Monday.
Bill had the car loaded and double checked we had not forgotten anything-there was loads of stuff-good job we were only staying overnight-we only had room for a small overnight bag between us by the time we had all the art stuff in the car!
We soon had the classroom set up suitably for the class-and one by one the student came in--Derek was the only chap -he had 8 ladies for painting companions! We had a last minute cancellation-one lady was poorly so couldn't attend.
So with all 9 students ready to start painting my way we got on with it!
The room we had was already used as an art classroom so it was well splattered with paint over the floor and walls-there was also a couple of sinks which made life easy when it came to washing brushes!
Bill set up my stands with pictures outside the room and we had the cards displayed as well-- they went down really well-
The summer school has been running for 27 years and there was all sorts of things going on there from wood turning to water colours, basket making to ceramics.e went to the large dining room for morning coffee and delicious cake, then back for a 2 course lunch and then afternoon tea so the we had plenty of breaks.
People were popping in from time to time to see how the students were getting on and were all amazed at how quick the paintings were coming along!
Derek managed to get some freckles when we did the splattering, but overall everyone kept themselves quite clean!
The results as usual were quite stunning-everyone enjoyed the experience and couldnt wait for the next days class!
As we were finished before time we got the encaustic art equipment out for everyone to have a go-they loved it and did some lovely pics with it.

Gloucester Arts and Crafts School

Well we have had a very busy day getting everything ready for Gloucester. We have to leave at 6.30am in order to get there in time to set up.
I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone--I have 9 ladies and one gent booked up for both days-the car is full to bursting with paints and easels etc.
I'm so glad we are booked into a hotel tomorrow night and don't have to drive home!
We are painting the Birch Trees tomorrow and Summer Day on Tuesday, so at least I haven't dirty oil brushes to clean tomorrow night!
I will probably post pics of tomorrows class when we return on Tuesday evening.

Gloucester Arts and Crafts School

IVe had my list of students come through today for my 2 days teaching at Gloucester Arts and Crafts School.
We have 9 ladies and one man coming on both days, so Bill wont be completly out-numbered!
We have booked in at a lovely hotel so we dont have to make the journey back on the Monday night.
Imreally looking forward to this new experience--it will be the first time i have had 10 students in a class.The day is a lot longer than normal 9.30am -4.30pm which is loads of time to get the 2 paintings done. I will be taking along the encaustic wax sets for people to have a go at after we have finished-as Im sure we will be finished a bit earlier even with 10 people!
