Good Write Up!

I had a great surprise when we got home from Gloucester last week-opened the Shropshire Star to find a small article about me!
After doing the demo the Leighton and Eaton Constantine WI Cecily Butler the clubs press secretary had got in touch with the paper with the write up!
I have 2 of their members coming to class to paint Poppy Field later in the year.

Class of Feb 14th

Margot,Gordon and Anita were all first time students today so they were all in the same boat!
Margot had found me through the SAA website.
Gordons wife had bought him a gift voucher for Christmas after they had seen my regular students Pauline and Chris's paintings, as they are neighbours!
Anita and I were at school together over 30 years ago---boy that makes me feel old!
We did some catching up when we had a coffee break! I had forgotten to take my camera to class today and hadn't realised until we had nearly finished, sent Bill home to fetch it and after he returned with it realised that the card was still in the laptop so home again bless him! Good job we are only a few hundred yards away in the room we hire!
Everyone enjoyed them selves in class-Anitas hubby joined up for the Winter Wonderland class next month when he came to pick her up!

Great Day

I had a lovely day at the gallery Alltogether Unique today.

It was very busy all day with people in and out all the time. I did get a painting completed in between all the chatting!!

The time flew by so quickly it was unreal--before I knew it Bill was there to pick me up and take me home!

We are doing the same again on the Thursday 26th of Feb when you will be able to come along and see the artwork, watch me working and have cup of coffee and a chat with us!

Puppy Sitting For Teddy!

ie

I had a busy day yesterday puppy sitting for my friends Jan and John.
Little Ted is only 4 months old, and he a bundle of energy. I thought I had puppy proofed the house but soon realised that I hadn't-he found all sorts of things to play with!
I ended up putting an old tray out of the parrot cage across the kitchen doorway to keep him confined to the kitchen/garage and patio areas!

He had 2 good walks in the morning and afternoon, had a little nap and he was back to exploring the patio and lugging all sorts back into his basket-he seems particularly partial to plastic flower pots!

He had a great time with my nephew Charlie, playing and chasing around. Poor Charlie nearly got licked to death!

Teddy did have a couple of little accidents - he went to the front door and asked to go out for a wee, but as I didn't have his lead on , by the time I fetched it -too late! He also had a little wee when my daughter Becki called-the excitement was too much for him -good job hes only little and does little wee's!
Hes a lovely little chap though, just look at that little face as hes in his basket trying to keep awake in case he misses something!
He didnt miss him mum and dad til 10 minutes before they arrived, by then he was completly knackered, he would have slept well all night!

Holiday

As all my regular readers will know ,we are off on holiday tomorrow.

Bill is going to pick up Jean who is pet sitting first thing tomorrow-we have been busy getting everything sorted ready. The fridges are full of goodies for both Jean and the livestock

We have packed the cases and got everything else ready(I think) sure to be something I have forgotten I expect!

Got the 2 cameras at the ready-the colours should be pretty amazing at this time of year.
As our first stop is Carlise there is no hurry to get away in the morning.Around 4 hours should see us there.
So a nice relaxed journey up there with a Sunday lunch en -route !

I will be keeping everyone updated as to where we are etc--we are going to be travelling around quite a bit.

Todays class

We had a lovely day today in class-we were one short at the last minute due to one of the Shrewsbury WI ladies having to cancel at the last minute.
I think Gwen was the most nervous out of todays group-she is second from the left in the photo. She had never had a brush in her hand before and was convinced she wouldnt be able to do it!
She commented in my book that she had wonderful day and she didnt think she had it in her!
As you can see she did a beautiful painting -as did the rest of the students. Carole and Jane had both been to me several times before.
Jane thought todays painting was her best so far-certainly she was more relaxed in this class!
Although Carole had been to me 14 times before she found she had learned new things in this class,I try to do something different in each class so there is always something new to learn.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone again !

Some Beautiful Inspiration

I took this photo when I called to see my friend Jean who is coming to pet sit while we are in Scotland.
She is lucky enough to live by this beautiful pond.
The trees are just starting to change colour and are reflecting into the water.
I will be painting this scene for Jean for a Christmas present!
We are really looking forward to this holiday-its been a long time in the planning--We will be seeing a lot of Scotland and the Lake District.
Ive been busy lately , Ive been invited to sell my work through a website that only sells work through their invitation only-you cannot apply to be on there yourself.
So Ive been getting my work photographed and sent ready to go live.
Its a popular site and hopefully my work will sell well on there-certainly Michelle the owner seems to think it will so fingers crossed!

Chris's Work

Chris bought along a painting he has been working on for some time--its in oil so hes had to wait for each bit to dry in order to put masking tape on to keep a straight line.So its taken several weeks to produce--its much better in real life than on photo!
He tells me its based on Hypothesis's Theory or something like it-will have to go to Google and check spelling on that one!
He did explain it all but it went in one ear and out the other I'm afraid!
When we were chatting in class the other week , it was mentioned that Chris analyses handwriting---it was brought up again today and we are all going to write 10 lines of writing and give them to Chris to see what he makes of us--we wont tell him who's is who's.
He has told us he wants us to write our own thing not copy out of a book, so when I get a minute I will be doing so--being very careful not to give the game away with what I write!.
It will be an interesting experiment to do--just shows we don't just talk about painting in class!
Another interesting fact--Chris's wife Pauline told us in a previous class before that if you have trouble swallowing a large tablet you just stick one finger in your ear before swallowing the tablet - we all laughed at her when she told us--but today in class Doreen said--"It works--I tryed it-couldn't believe it but it does!"

Tropical Sunset Class Full-August 30th

This class is now fully booked.

Yesterday morning Bill looked through my appointment book and said "there is nobody booked for the 'Tropical Sunset' class on Aug 30th.
I replied "there is plenty of time yet" An hour later the phone rings and a lady who lives just around the corner from us phoned to book the class for her and a friend after seeing the article about me in the Ludlow Lifestyle magazine.
The other 4 places were filled by students of todays class "Winter Wonderland"

I will upload the pics of the class tomorrow.

Todays Craft Fair

The weather forcast was completly wrong today--instead of the wet day forcast it was warm bright and sunny--until time to start packing away! At 4pm it went black, even had a rumble of thunder-then the heavens opened.Everyone else was running around like headless chickens trying to pack their stuff away! We sat tight and waited for it to give over--goood job we did--a lovely lady came by-admired the Birch Tree Triptych and bought it!
Ive got to re-order all of the encaustic art stuff as I sold out today-have got a new customer caling by for a complete set this Sunday.

Update on July 12th Class--African Dream

I have 2 places left for this Saturdays class
" African Dream"
This painting has proved very popular in the past .
It is an acrylic painting this time, so it will be dry for the students to take home.
It also means that the sides can all be painted in class !
If you would like to join us in this class please get in touch via my website

Update on July 19th class-Stormy Skies

I have 3 places left for the Stormy Skies Class on July 19th.
As you can see there are some changes that can be made to the paintings to make them very different to each other. Simply adding a palm tree totaly changes the look of the painting.
Its a painting suitable for first time artists or more experienced artists.
If you would like to join this class please get in touch via my website www.paintingmyway.co.uk
